The tournament will take place from Thursday, 27th October to Sunday, 30th October 2011 when a number of world ranking players will compete for a prize fund of €3million.
Last year Graeme McDowell (seen above) won the inaugural Andalucía Valderrama Masters, but it is not yet known whether he will be returning to defend his title this year. However, world ranked No. 4 Martin Kaymer from Germany has confirmed that he will play in the tournament saying: “ I look forward to playing again at Valderrama, which for me is one of the most beautiful courses in the world and certainly one of my favourites.”
This competition is an important event because it will be the last opportunity for golfers on the European Tour to make the Top 60 in the Race to Dubai money list.
The world-famous Valderrama course, acknowledged as one of the best in the world, is situated within the Sotogrande urbanisation, close to Gibraltar, and approximately one and a half hours drive from Malaga. The club has hosted 16 Volvo Masters events, the first two editions of the American Express-World Golf Championship and The 1997 Ryder Cup.
